Catalina's Hideaway is a 2.5-acre beachfront property in a tiny surf town near Santa Catalina, Panama. The boutique resort is owned and operated by a couple who left their finance jobs in 2013 and never looked back. Now parents to two children, Ryan and Anthea Somes welcome families to their secluded "hideaway," where the jungle meets the ocean and families can connect through a different pace of life.

The Hideaway offers a wide-ranging selection of airy accommodations where families can immerse themselves in undisturbed nature. Eleven casitas and treehouses cater to a mere 32 guests at a time and feature outdoor garden showers, memory foam mattresses, family-friendly room configurations and fully furnished outdoor spaces -- in other words, the right mix of nature and comfort.

With retreat packages that include surf lessons, guided excursions to Coiba National Park, hikes to a waterfall, fishing trips and cooking classes, you can just show up to the Hideaway and let your hosts do all the work. Forget about VIP treatment, you'll get BFF treatment.

Sobremesa is the Hideaway's central gathering spot, offering casual, eclectic and "healthy-ish" meals prepared with a farm-to-table philosophy. The open-air restaurant is the perfect venue for enjoying homegrown cuisine and ingredients, vibrant jungle sounds and boisterous laughter.
